SROC league & Gallopen notes 2007 |
Hi Everyone Firstly apologies for the delay in getting the latest tables out. A variety of factors have conspired against me. a) computer & email problems during most of September b) the new BOF site proving somewhat less than user friendly and c) concerns over the Junior League (more about that later) I don’t think there are any problems with the Galoppen and the Senior League (this is dependent on the BOF site and how up to date it is kept). For all Leagues I have tried to include all the results I think applicable but can you please check for any errors and omissions. The Junior League is proving a little problematic. Pleasingly we now have a number of Juniors who are running above their BOF age class and making good use of the ageless class categories. This does however raise a dilemma for the statistician in deciding where to allocate the points. If the points are allocated to the class they are running in then a number of the Juniors could win more than one class. It is implicit in the current rules for the Junior League that the Junior ‘stays’ in their age category for that year, but is this still appropriate? You will see that for this year I have applied the ‘old’ rule but also indicated where Juniors have gained points by running up. It is intended that Juniors are awarded standards where appropriate for the ageless classes they run in. There is obviously an anomaly between the Junior and Senior League and it is intended to review the rules before next year. Sorry about the length of this note, I hope it makes some sort of sense. Thanks Bob Nash |
