Planners Thanks and Comments:
Excellent turnout , some very welcome new faces & if its new to you it will take quite some time to run a course efficiently as opposed to just running quickly. The mancunians did very well again with Ed Mellor having a blinder.
I enjoyed remapping Penwortham and if its any consolation it was very tricky to map at walking speed let alone try to navigate through it at speed. I think the tip for the area is take a simple option rather than a complex one.
The controls seemed uncontentious (after all the navigation to the control should be the hard bit rather than finding the bloody thing once you get there). Control 35 was a bit hard to decipher so I gave the points for anything that vaguely looked right.
Karen had a blazing run the night after, but has had to be knocked back to join Chris .
If there are any map changes or if you think you have a different score please get back to me. See you at
Whalley.
Dave Hargreaves.
Street League Co-Ordinator’s Comments:
Many thanks to Dave Hargreaves for planning and organizing as well as producing a much-needed new map.
Steve Lang has notched up his fourth victory on the long course, with a comfortable margin over Ali. Another close battle between Karen and Chris Roberts, this time with Karen being capped by the rule relating to self-timed runs on another night. Ian Selby is a name to watch as he gets to accustomed to street events. Also a storming run by Brian Looker.
John Ashton is working in the background on the League tables. Just a reminder of how these are being compiled. There will be two Leagues – one age/sex adjusted and one not. And the results are all standardized on a basis of points per hour, so people on the 60 minute course are competing directly against those on the 75. What this does mean is that you can switch from one course to another without jeopardizing your points score (as John himself has done this week, opting to run for 15 minutes less this time).
Glenys Ferguson.
