Planners Thanks and Comments:

Many thanks to Dave, Emily and Ian for running the event for me on the night and many thanks to you all for your well wishes and card. Thanks also the the Kingfisher staff for making us welcome. It is a pretty good venue I think. About the time you were all running round I was in theatre. I am now catching up on lost sleep and nursing a sore area at the front of the left shoulder. I expect to be back on the bike next week but it will be a few weeks before swimming and running.

I suppose the event will go down as the mystery of the missing H. All controls were checked twice and some 3 times including a night check by Emily. Sure enough there was no sign of the missing H when I checked on Friday after the event. 21 people found it on the night, 4 did not visit the site and 6 did not find the H, all later visitors. They have all been credited with the 50 points ( Paul T, Steve M, John B, Rowena, Les Ward and Cath Kitching) Some how the H label on the LP must have come off / been removed ! My answer sheet for 35 at 307 not 306 was my mistake but did not create a problem.

The rationale for 20,30,40,50 I took from John Ashton, who, some time ago, argued that with 20 being a higher percentage of 50 than 10 is of 40, more people would consider visiting the 20 pointers more worth while. Seeing how many went round the far east circuit (8) I am happy that extending the map eastward was a good idea. I did wonder whether this would be possible for the best runners to get round from the Kingfisher without severe penalties. Chris Roberts and John Hickman went round on the 60 min but suffered penalties, as did all the 6 on the 75min allowance. I would be interested to hear who thought it worthwhile. Hope to see you at event 4.

Street League Co-Ordinator’s Comments:
The mystery of control 55 sounds like it will be one that will go down in the annals of street league. Rather like (if memory serves me right) Peter’s vanishing Red Indians, many moons ago. Many thanks to Peter for doing all the background work, and to Dave Johnstone, Emily Dennis and Ian Evans for stepping in to cover for him. Paul will have to give his apologies for Penwortham because of work commitments, but I hope I will manage to make it out for a run!
Glenys Ferguson.
