Planners Thanks and Comments:
Thanks
to all who came, some of you through some bad Lancaster traffic. I hope it was
worthwhile. Most people seemed satisfied except for the one control No 28 on a
TP which was hard to see in the dark but had been easily visible in daylight.
Significantly, the people who did not notice a problem were people with the
more powerful lights for night O. Apologies to those affected. I counted
anything in that box as an indication that the person had been there but may
not have been able to see the number. Scores were very close with several
people scoring the same as each other. Chris Roberts did the course the next day so although he scored better than the
highest score on the night, his score cannot count according to the rules.
Thanks
to Sarah Watkins for setting up and Roger and Kira for taking over the start and
Glenys on registration. Things were all going so smoothly when I arrived from
work, that I did not have a job!
Thanks
also to Kira for calculating the scores and typing the results up, with her
left hand of course.
Street League Co-Ordinator’s Comments:
Another
very high turnout, boosted by the contingent from Dallam Road Runners. It was
also good to welcome more juniors, namely Thomas Selby, Emma and Kelly Davies,
Ben Wilson and Adam Harrison. Thanks to the Browne family, Sarah Watkins and
also David Whitaker for updating and producing the map. It is a pity that the
large number of cows he is currently milking are preventing him from competing.
Scores
on the 75 minute course were closely packed at the top. Steve Lang again came
out on top, but close on his heels was David Roome in his first attempt at
Street O. Showing little signs of her exertions at the OMM a couple of days
earlier, Karen was well ahead of all but Chris Roberts on the 60 minute course.
However, his score has been capped at her 650 because of the rule that says
self-timed runs on another day cannot be credited with points higher than the
on-the-night winner.
Catherine
Kitching has suggested that the emergency phone number (either the Start venue
or the Organiser’s mobile) is made available at Registration for anyone who
wants to programme it into their own mobile before starting. At future events
it will therefore appear on the Information Sheet on display at Registration,
as well as being on the map.
