Thanks and Comments
Hope you all
enjoyed the trip to this northerly outpost of the Street League. The Hest Bank
Hotel was a new venue. The separate room and the food served until 9pm seemed
to meet people’s requirements. Starting through a door marked “Gents” provided
a novel dimension.
You may notice
some changes from the provisional results as answers have been reviewed and
adding checked. Answers that are clearly out of line with those of other
competitors have not been allowed. Take care to read both clue sheet and map
carefully. Dave Johnstone spend ages looking for Keep Out Bull Beef when he was
after Chapel Close. Peacock Lane and Peacock Close were offered when the
correct answer was Cres(cent).
Congratulations
to Chris Roberts heading the 75 minute group.
Very impressive given this was his first run of the season after a long
lay-off with back problems. Also another storming performance by Karen, despite
carrying an injury. And not far behind came the rest of the Nash family. There
were some interesting strategies. Steve McLean collected all the 50 pointers.
Chris swept up to the top of the map, ignoring several of the high pointers at
the Hest Bank end. Karen focused on the southern triangular area bounded by the
two main roads (but adding in control 53 and ignoring control 59). Perhaps it
was her past experiences with the level crossing that made her stay this side
of the railway. However, it proved to be a higher-scoring approach on the 60
minutes than heading out towards the coast.
Thanks for
coming. Hope to see you next week
(ie 15 February) at the Nash event at Cottam.
Glenys and Paul Ferguson
P.S. Wearing my hat as Co-ordinator-apparent, please
let me know if, when, where you can organise an event next season. (I already
have one offer.) Also any suggestions/comments you may have. Ian has run the
Street League very effectively, and will be a tough act to follow.
