Thanks
and Comments
Many
thanks to all those who turned up on what turned out to be a dry and ice free night (unlike last time when skating was the
order of the night). Unfortunately the rain over the last 3 days had made some
of the areas quite slippy. Congratulations to Frances who returned quite the
muddiest control sheet any of us had seen – (Peter – she must be in line for an
award of some sort!).
Apologies
to all those who had difficulty with control 21 (the notice board just beyond
the kissing gate). I had assumed that people would anticipate that such an item
as a changeable notice on the board would not be used and would look at the
board itself. Sorry to those who wasted valuable time – four people (Steve
McClean, Dave Ellis, Janet Vials and Moz did however get the correct answer).
There
was some controversy over control 22 (Road sign OUT gate) at the end of a
cul-de-sac ‘protected’ by a fence from Cottam Way. On reflection perhaps not the
best site (however over a third of you got it correct, maybe at the cost of
time) but I was trying hard to find sites which were not lampposts. Whilst the
area is generally nice to run around, in Cottam itself there is not a lot of
choices for suitable sites.
There
is evidence that some people were running fast and perhaps not taking quite
enough care with recording their answers.
During
the perusal of the marked sheets by competitors at the end a number of points
were raised and these have been checked and where appropriate the marks amended.
Once
again thanks for coming, hope to see you at the next event on 8th March at Thornton
