Organizers Thanks and Comments
Forty-six runners
came to Lytham Cricket Club and it was nice to see so many joining us from
Fylde Mountaineering Club and the local running clubs, North Fylde, Wesham and
Lytham.
One or two
uncertain controls caused difficulties to some for which I apologize and the
“high on garage” control description led to mirthful comments especially from
the taller competitors. Those apart,
the night went well and many seemed to have enjoyed themselves.
My thanks to Bill
for timing, testing out the course and sandwich-making, to Frances for
invaluable help with marking and to Moz for help in compiling results. Also thanks to the bar-room philosophers for
their interesting course analysis afterwards which included thoughts on whether
the map scale could more accurately be described as 1:12,290! A special thanks to Ian who has so
stalwartly organized street-O events for so long to so many members’ benefit and
enjoyment. And, not least, thanks to
everyone who turned out and let’s hope we see you all again at Penwortham.

Welcome to
debutantes Sharon, Lee, and Yvonne, and the return to action of Mike Eccles
. I hope you all enjoyed your runs and
will be back for more. Please let me
have your e-mail address if you would like a fixture list and results sent to
to you directly. Although given
‘Novice’ status at Lytham, Mike Eccles and David Ellis should in future declare
a target time when running 30 – 60.
Our thanks to
Dawn and Bill for arranging the excellent venue and event and providing the
excellent refreshments, and especially to the friendly bar-team who came in on
their night off..
Can I remind
everyone to wear suitable reflective clothing, and that yellow bibs are
available on free loan. Also, I try to
have spare compasses, watch, pens, torch and mapcases for anyone else that
suffers from ‘senior moments’. If you
have not yet signed the ‘Acceptance of Safety Rules’ form agreeing to comply
with safety advice, then please see me to do so at Penwortham. This is to protect the organizers, by
showing we have drawn your attention to our risk analysis as is required by our
insurance cover, and we prefer to avoid
accidents than to argue who was negligent.
