Planner's Comments (Ali Welsh)

Thanks to everyone for coming to sunny Blackpool. A big thank you to Ian Evans for checking the map, helping out on the night and providing general assistance – a great help.

Most of the controls seemed to be accurate, there was one that gave up 2 answers. We allowed either to score as the dimensions of the road on the map are not quite accurate.

Some people commented on the size of the course and I agree that it could probably have coped with an extra 5 50s – perhaps all 1:12500 maps should have 45 controls?

Hope you liked the ‘Drinking Prohibited’ control. It tickled me and was a must when I saw it.

Congratulations to all course winners and special congrats to Paul Ferguson who wins the coveted Blackpool Tower trophy for most points per hour.

Cheers, Ali.

Dave Kesby repeated his class win to show Bolton-le-Sands was no fluke. Another great performance from Steve Wrigley picking off a few more of our ‘experts’, and also good runs from our other guests Chris Packman, and Vicky and Jason Weller.

Please check I have your 2004 Birthday age correct, and let me have any corrections soonest so I can calculate age adjusted tables before the Kirkham event.

Best wishes to you all and your families for a very Merry Christmas, and a healthy successful 2004, orienteering on the Streets and in interesting forests with the sun on your back.
See you again at Kirkham.

Ian Evans
