When you arrive you are advised to look at the blank map of the area which shows hazards that may not be on the map you are given at the start. Also check the Safety Notice and any other information on display. If you are new to the events it is very useful to look at the picture examples of "Know What You`re Looking For".
The Start & Finish point is indicated on the map by a triangle. The position of the control is marked by a dot in the centre of the circle - this should indicate such aspects as which side of the road/path the control is, how far along the road/path you will have to go, proximity to a junction etc. What the control is on is shown on your Answer Sheet which you get at Registration - check that you understand what you are being asked to look for. You should also note what scale the map is, they are usually between 1:10000 and 1:15000. For this map the scale is 1 : 10,000
