All orienteering membership runs Jan-Dec for one year (if you join from 1st November - 31 December it includes the current year and the next year).

Benefits of becoming a member of SROC:

  • Making friends with other Club members and Club social activities, including the annual club handicap/prizegiving, Summer social, club dinners etc
  • Periodic coaching on navigation from the Club's British Orienteering qualified coaches, which is normally free to Club members

  • 10% Discount from our local O shop, CompassPoint
  • The Club Newsletter, published at irregular intervals
  • Red Rose Email Updates
  • Access to a "Navigational Challenge" and "Racing Challenge" Incentive Scheme  - very popular with Juniors
  • Discounts from national companies through the member discounts scheme

  • Eligibility to compete in the championship classes at the British Championships, the JK and the Area Championships (Northern, Midlands and Southern)
  • Eligibility to compete in the United Kingdom Orienteering League
  • Eligibility to compete in the Harvester Relays
  • Opportunity to qualify to represent your country at international competitions
  • The option to compete in a Rankings scheme
  • Eligibility to apply for awards under the British Orienteering Badge Scheme
  • Public Liability Insurance when participating in events and activities registered with British Orienteering
  • Papers and vote at the British Orienteering AGM
  • Access to a members only section of the British Orienteering website
  • All members belong to both the club (ie SROC) and British Orienteering (BOF). There are therefore two elements to your membership fee.
    SROC element:

Individual senior (age 26 or over) £5

Individual young adult (age 21-26) free

Individual junior (age 20 or less) free

    Family group £5

However, for those new to British Orienteering (i.e. have not been a member in the last three years), SROC will waive the club element of the fee so you only pay British Orienteering's fees and get club membership free for one year.

    BOF element:

BOF membership rates are expected to change at the BO AGM in early October 2024. This page will be updated with the correct fees once they have been decided, but in the mean time the current BOF fees are laid out on this web page: https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/join

For those who are wanting some contact with the club but no longer orienteering we do offer the chance to be a "Friend" of SROC. This category is free and this means you will receive the club newsletter (by email) and be welcome at social events.

If you would like to join SROC, please go to the British Orienteering website and remember to choose "SROC" from the drop down list of clubs! If you are new to orienteering remember to tick the box saying you have not been a member in the last three years which will qualify you for free SROC membership in your first year.

If you cannot use the on-line membership for any reason please contact our Secretary who will be able to sort things out for you to join.
