  1. Participation Project
  • Meeting had been held with Steve Vernon  to discuss possible ways of piloting the participation project. The idea is to provide a fixed centre, fixed time meeting point, loosely based around orienteering activities that would also provide a sociable place to meet.
  • Ideas had focused on Lancaster as it appeared to have the best potential to succeed. Further centres could be opened in the SROC area if this was successful.
  • Current need to find a suitable venue in Lancaster, Ripley was one suggested.
  • This project is in addition to current club activities. While it is intended as a local centre, all SROC members would be welcome.
  • Healthy discussions followed and some reservations aired.

  1. Lancashire Youth games Sat 28th June
  • Mixed interest from boroughs over joint selection races and fewer participants would result, many wanted own races and some were able to set up their own.
  • NWOA grant to be paid in to SROC and distributed from there. PK said that the levy had to come from the £1,000 and that there may be no future NWOA funding. Progress report expected at CDM
  • Results from the boroughs etc to be posted on the SROC website.

  1. Mapping

  • Lancaster University being remapped by AF. Tried using OS DXF file but cost £600 so used OS rasta file cost £40 but needed more personal input. File updated last winter only a few new buildings missing.  Should be ready for April o-zone.
