SROC Committee Meeting – 5th June 2014

Minutes from the previous meeting were circulated and agreed.

 

Matters arising from previous meeting:

 

Local firm for post cards used by ME. Should be with us next week.  These are for thanking helpers and others.

Handbook work in progress – JA

 

Challenge Match between SROC and Southern Navigators ME to action.  To take place on a Lakes 5 day event.  Hopefully QH has a scoring system

 

Club kit ready for end of June.  Extra kit has been ordered – No O trousers – sorry.

 

Club History – DC not to write the whole book.  Series of topics for the book – 'General Section', 'Honours list', 'Listing Club Chairman’s', 'Club members overseas' (MR), 'Modernisation' (CR), 'John Denmark for Trail 'O'', 'Unusual events', 'Areas or Maps' (AF), 'Juniors' (J.Carberry), 'Ski 'O'' (D.Rosen), 'Street League'.  All by different authors.   Possibly an on line publication.  QH suggests a Wikipedia publication.  '50th Anniversary Celebrations', 'Tim Watkins' (DH), Book to relate to past and not present.  Possibly print on demand rather than a set number, (CR).

Charnly Way maps - £600 agreed to produce by SROC. £300 for first 50 maps, various people have them to sell LAMM Etc.

 

Large file of N Champs held by TM (photos).40 min download from pen drive, Action by CR. Print off good photos for dinner at end of year.

 

NWOA meeting on 7.6.14, case for map bids.  Action ME.

LOC desperate to get Great Tower, high altitude NW areas are the least popular.  Bannesdale, Great Tower, or Angle Tarn, is an interest for SROC.  Copyright to us for area if we have it.

 

Good areas for lake 5 days possibly, if they do use it LSD could pay access fees.

 

1. Great Tower, 2. Angle Tarn, 3. Bannesdale is the sequence of interest for ME to bid for.

 

Williamson's Park – Development ME communications with MR regarding Grant from NWOA of £500.

LOC got SI kit from Grant.

ME meeting with Will Griffiths to revamp leaflets and permanent course maps -QH to action.  Easy access, medium and hard course.  QR course, scanning with mobile phones.  We will provide courses and the Park will upgrade maps.

 

Schools 'O' competition was very successful.  Lost a handful of dibbers.

 

Events:

Sprint series on going, good advert in booklet for Lancaster, brought in new people.

Club membership forms to go into download box and carried to events – CR

Email addresses must be put on forms when recruiting new members.

Club Picnic – 1960 style event, plastic bags, old maps, punch system – Action DC.

1pm mass start – parking as is, dribs and drabs – food – DC maps

L5 day – Hampsfell

Autumn series – RB still to get organisers and planners.

Spook 'o' – Silverhelm – 3rd time it is used, then move on to new area for next year. 

Nicky Nook – DH for access.

Possbility of combining a day /night event at Williamsons Park.  Has proved successful on previous occasions.

Possibly Williamson's park for night event?? - Chris Rostron to be contacted by RB nearer event

 

2015 handicap Lords lot ZH seen area and can be used in future – possibly another area could be used?

Tarn Beck changed hands

White Coppice for New Year Cracker? Re-map (Julian Lailey)

Possibly borrow an area from LOC for Cracker?  DC

Myerscough for Sprints next year, ME mapping UCLAN at present -QH suggests very good area for Sprint.

JK going well – TM – not sure where finish will be as yet, Uni not happy using Alexander Square at Easter.

2015 – Level 'A' Helsington CSC final.

 

Fixtures:

N Champs Assessors report. Ray Barns (NOC) Initial Report.

TM very unhappy with the way this was handled,  Very negative comments will deter people from Organising future events.Assessor Scheme is not compulsory for Level A events.

ME states very appreciative of the standards of organisation by TM – A job well done!

Invite comments to organiser after an event.  Committee agreed, in view of unconstructive nature of report which only swayed people to negative comments, in the future we no longer want to be a part of the assessor scheme.

Worden Park  - Map needs updating to ISSOM standard for future sprint events.

Captain's report:

Booking confirmed Dec 14 for competition down south – looking in to travel arrangements.

JK not a good result – The British was better.

Deeside may share a coach down with SROC – Action – QH

Purple Pen and OCAD familiarisation course run by QH at the back end of the summer.

Lancaster Community magazine running an article.

 

History of club 'O' tops club has had over the years.

Picnic old O kit to be worn – CR

 

Junior training in Eaves Wood went well with a good turn out.

Julian -Dibber possibly new comer get dibber after 6 – 10 events for small fee £10- to encourage more new comers – committee agree.  Possible stamp collection scheme or voucher.

Golden Dibber – to be presented at celebration for some reason – suggestions to ME.
