SROC Committee Meeting 13 July 2009

  • Si course still waiting to hear from Hamish
  • SW First Aid course – no date yet
  • Caton Moor- JL going ahead
  • Duxbury- DH no news on new road?
  • Anglezarke- DH/BL no news ACTION Dick send old paper map to KN and TM who will run over the summer and check it
  • Helpers used doc- JL to RB and TM – not yet

  1. Chorley British Sprint
  • Middle Sat 17 now Haverthwaite Heights LOC. Need joint flyer and ideally joint internet entries Action CR ask Dave J
  • TM produced 3 very detailed sheets- long discussion on detail of many items and some gaps filled in eg Mapper Dave Peel, agreed rent our Si boxes  etc to maxminise our income, host it on our sroc web site, ‘courtyard O- yes get their sports dev officers to do it.

Now need: ACTION TM (MR thanked TM for all his hard work and the progress that he has made)

  • Urgent meeting SteveMcL, TM, AF etc agree exact area, number of likely controls, will they be moved and reused for pm as this affects the mini event
  • Sub group to organize and run the mini event over the lunch Action RB
  • Named entries/enquiries person, get a quote from Mike Nappier re pm starts etc/software
  • Check licences / permissions for traders – Wilfs etc
  • Cover and elec for download
  • Extra ideas- inflatable finish, big screen, PA system/radio controls etc (QH suggested contact Ian Marsden), Live results

Linked to this is the Chorley O Zone series: Yarrow, Cuerden, Astley and Worden and Duxbury if available of Yarrow again. Yellow, Orange and Technical on Sat late am

Action KN – find volunteers to check what updates are needed on any Chorley maps and perhaps do this if only small changes needed or get SROC to ask Dave Peel. KN also to liaise with TM and sound out Cuerden

 

  1. AGM Wed 16 Sept
  • Action GS to book venue, DC to put details in newsletter and on web and ask for any extra agenda items
  • Agreed to propose fees stay same, most of committee happy to stay on, SW would like a year off, MR move from Chair to Vice Chair, JL willing to be nominated for Chair

 

  1. Ripley Sessions.

A very successful year and QH was thanked. Now time to review- venue, activities, equipment, leaders etc. Lots of discussion and QH to ask more opinions on Tue eve.

Action QH email out proposal.

 

  1. Peter Palmer Relays- emails sent and a hastener sent today as few replies so far. Within week should have numbers and so know what we need in terms of entries, transport and adults. Action MN and SW

 

  1. Scottish 6 Day- tent, BBQ etc in hand. Action MR rota for tent and email all re BBQ

 

  1. O at Preston Guild- agreed we could go ahead with club support, CR suggested we try to get it as Nopesport league, elites? And we could perhaps use Chorley as a model Action Bob N to contact Phil Walsh and keep committee informed. Similar situation with 100years of Scouting in Preston.

 

  1. Love Parks- need volunteers but clashes with Scottish etc and hols – didn’t seem to be any available

 

  1. SRJS –QH not spoken with Ian S yet Action to do so. Agreed invite juniors when capable, qualified coach and vol coordinator, planned programme and dates. NB several juniors progressing through Explorer Challenge.

 

  1. Mapping
  • Dunsop- Dave Peel to map but limited time slots, DC said check valley floor is available for kids and v old as so steep Action AF
  • Stanley Park- how do we try to get something from it now it has been prof mapped? Action KN to phone- aim good POC and map we can use for events
  • Hyning Wood- on going
  • Caton Moor- on going
  • Lakes 5- Helsington- lots of veg now- need some remap. Need to know who pays before we decide what to do Action DC ask Trevor Roberts

 

10. Whitbarrow event- Planner DH and orgnaiser TM? Now in place- need to discuss car park and start. Discussion- yes must be ranking and encourage pre entry, same courses as Cumbrian Gallopen but higher fee due to access costs Action RB let Cumbria know and Action CR ask Dave J re entries
