·
Postcards
ME still looking for cost effective
supply
·
SROC/SN
match to celebrate 50th anniversary. SN
cannot raise a team on the proposed date at Bentley Woods due to other
commitments. Now looking at one of the Lakes 5 Days events. Action -ME to keep in touch.
·
Beacon
Fell Tree Planting. All the trees are now planted and
MR has submitted an article to the Garstang Courier
which is due to be published.
·
Club
Kit. Samples are in the post ME.
·
Updated
club history is still in the discussion stage. Action DC and Julian to continue.
·
TWT. Action
DH has written to landowners and is awaiting a response. A possible extension
into Subberthwaite was discussed.
·
Liz
Campbell Maps – DH has had a response from the landowners at Witherslack and Whitbarrow North
but unfortunately the access charges make use unlikely.
·
Laptop
Grant - ME still writing to Steve
Round.
·
Dropbox
is now up and running and is being used.
2014
·
PK
has asked to put an article in the newsletter and the 2014 page on the website
about the Celebration Evening in December. Further reminders will be posted
throughout the year. Action CR/DC
·
Charnley Way Map. TM has
submitted all details to Harvey Maps and is awaiting a response. Still hopeful of being ready for
late Spring.
·
Banners
– ME has had a quote of about £40 for a new and updated SROC banner. Meeting in
agreement to go ahead. Action MR
·
Northern
Championships all on track. Could be struggling for the volume of helpers
required – especially on car parking!! If we are still struggling in a couple of weeks we may ask other clubs Action TM
Events
·
Spring
and Summer series 2014 are all in hand.
·
Picnic
– Hyning Scout Wood suggested to
take place on July 12th. Parking could be tricky but there’s
plenty of room for a picnic. AF said
the map is OK. Action RB to
ask Julian about permission to use the adjoining field.
·
Lakes
5 Day – No discount for SROC helpers as it is organised on behalf of NWOA.
·
Autumn
Series – RB suggested we have a simplified level of colour coded line courses
as a change to the recently popular score format.
·
Torver High Common 2016 – Meeting agreed to go with early November to be a
‘Twin Event’ weekend with LOC event.
·
Handicap
2015 – We will not get permission to use Barrowfield
at that time of year so it was decided to use Lords Lot. RB to ask Julian to
map.
·
Northern
Championships are on track. Approx 245 entries to the
end of January.
Mapping
·
Due
to BO funding limitations concerning the Lake District access officer role the
NWOA are offering 6 areas they ‘own’ to clubs to ‘maintain’. The meeting
decided we should go for preferably Great Tower, failing that Bannisdale. The other areas aren’t really suitable for us. Action DC to ‘bid’ at the forthcoming CDM.
·
AF is trying to get hold of Lidar
data free of charge as a non-commercial enterprise. He also produced some great updated map
sections he has created using this, OCAD 11 and georeferencing.
AF suggested the club purchase OCAD 11 -
the meeting agreed. Action AF.
Treasurer
·
DC
said we are expecting some major income from the Northern Championships in this
Financial year but not much else. Lakes
5 day is in the next financial year.
Coaching
·
MR
said that the coaching session for adults and juniors at Beacon Fell in January
catered for 9 juniors and 8 adults. It was a great success with the SROC Junior
squad members outshining the adults!
·
Next
training session prior to the Williamson Park event on 15th Feb ME, 15th March prior to the
Beacon Fell event and 5th April prior to the Yarrow Valley event.
·
TM
and Bob Nash talking to Chorley schools about assistance prior to the School
games.
AOB
·
Replacement
Club Tent – The current tunnel tent is on its last legs. MR has got a quote of approximately £500.00
for one of a similar type and size C/W with logo and Name. Meeting agreed and
suggested ‘50th anniversary’ log. Action MR to go ahead.
·
Update
on Explorer/Run Challenge. SRBC don’t
want to run Explorer in the parks anymore but do want to run it in schools. We
were asked if we wanted to take it over – the meeting said not.
·
SRBC
also asked if we had anyone interested in mapping South Ribble
primary schools. Action ME to
contact them.
·
Run
Challenge is going back to the drawing board and probably will not go ahead
this year.
·
Compass
Sport Trophy – QH thought we had about 56 entries.
·
Electronic
Distribution of the Club Newsletter. The meeting decided not to issue paper
copies and wait to gauge complaints. It will now be sent out electronically,
possibly in two formats. One to self-print and one to read on screen. Action DC
