My First Event - The Start
How do I find the start ?
The route to the start is normally signposted and / or marked with streamers.
What's the start procedure ?
Generally, you will be called up, 2-3 minutes before your start time. There may be
blank maps available for you to look at.
. . . and when I start ?
Tip. If the event's using e-cards, you will need
to punch the start unit. This should be clearly marked. Normally there's a start official
to point these things out.
If the maps are pre-marked you pick up a map from the correct box and you're on your
way.
If you need to mark your own map there will be master maps at the start where you can
copy down the correct course. Be careful to ensure you've copied the course correctly !
Tip. The triangle denotes the start, and the
concentric circles denote the finish.
