Location Map

A warm welcome awaits you in this special area of Cumbria where nature and heritage jostle for your attention. Bustling towns and picturesque villages nestle against a scenic backdrop of countryside and coast, stretching from the endless expanses of Morecambe Bay to lush, gentle, countryside inland.

Many interests can be investigated here like the rich seam of religious heritage running through the Peninsulas. There are award winning visitor attractions with an eye to the future and a foot in the past. The promise of speciality shops around curious corners, inviting cobbled streets and market squares are a delight to the visitor.

Highlights include historic Ulverston a fine example of an English market town and birthplace of Stan Laurel; genteel Grange-over-Sands, a prosperous Edwardian seaside resort; and the magnificent ruins of Furness Abbey, set in the serene Vale of Deadly Nightshade.
