Park at Silver Sapling Guide Camp (next to the National Trust car park) -
Grid. Ref SD 470759, entrance will be signed.
• Assemble at 16:30 ready for a 17.15 mass start
• Expect a simple 45 minute score event (ie visit the controls in any order) with a twist - Full instructions and help on the night. You do not need prior experience of night orienteering, just a sense of fun and adventure!
• Bring torches/headlights, walking or running-shoes, warm/waterproof togs,
whistle, compass and a watch. Oh, and a mobile phone if you have one, just in case!
• Eaves Wood is not muddy. However, in wet weather be careful of slippy bits of limestone even on the paths
• Go solo, as a pair or in a group
• Fancy dress optional but encouraged – prizes for the best! Campfire, soup and marshmallows if weather permits.
• Weather – if really bad weather is forecast (eg torrential rain, gales, snow) please check the website or phone the organisers on the morning of the event.
Fees are £2.50 for an adult or family group (which includes 1 map) plus 50p for additional maps (which makes it more fun for you all, suggest at least 2 maps for a family of 4)
If you are likely to come please let me know - email preferable – do it now!!!! (and by 9pm on Thursday 29th October latest) how many maps you would like. This will not commit you to coming, but it would be very helpful so we know roughly how many maps to print. However, we will be printing spare maps, so if you don’t let me know you can of course still come (maybe I should not tell you that, but it is Halloween).
