Map

Terrain and Safety Notes:

Mainly coniferous forest with some open fell and an extensive path network. Both courses are contained within the perimeter road, which is itself out of bounds.

Extensive thinning throughout most of the woodland has recently been completed. Much of the forest is still very runnable, but there are localised areas of deep ruts and brashings. The map has been updated to take account of this work but does not mark these localised areas. Some paths and tracks are less distinct than they were, particularly at junctions.

There are some red/white tapes left in the forest from the felling work – these can be ignored.

The park will be very busy with other visitors, please be courteous and give them and any dogs a wide berth.

Entry fees:

£5 Seniors (or family group entering on one SI card), £2 Juniors.

Courses:

Mass start 60 minute Odds and Evens score event for the experienced. Explanation - start with either an odd or even control and then continue collecting as many of that first type before changing to collect the second type. Once you have changed you can only collect the second type and will not score points for any of the first type, so you need to judge when to change carefully!).

Normal score event for beginners ie visit as many controls as you can, in any order, in 60 minutes.

Each control is worth 10 points.

Penalty points - 5 points per minute or part minute deducted on both courses for being back late
