SROC Success in British Orienteering Project!
British Orienteering has announced that SROC
are one of just 5 clubs chosen for the new Increasing Participation
Project.
British Orienteering says that the new
participation manager (Steve Vernon) will be working closely with these
clubs to hopefully establish a more regular training/meeting venue and
more frequent local orienteering activities that cater for both the
accomplished orienteer and newcomer to the sport. In addition to
increasing participation Steve also aims to assist clubs in their
volunteer recruitment and development.
SROC sees this as a great way to build on
the success of the Ozone concept. Any scheme will need to be sustainable
in terms of effort from the club, and will need to meet our objectives
in terms of bringing new members and participants to weekend
Orienteering events in the North west. Any club members, new or
longstanding, who would like to contribute ideas to developing this project
should get in touch with Martyn Roome at
martyn@adasmroome.demon.co.uk
