25.05.04 Friends of the Fells - Help or just join in the fun!
This Bank Holiday (Sun 30th & Mon 31st), Steve McLean
is running some family orienteering activities at the Lake District Visitor
Centre, Brockhole, Windermere, as part of a wider programme of fun events and
displays. He'd love to see anyone take part, and he's especially keen for
help between 10-5 on both days. Please get in touch with him as soon as
24.05.04 Wednesday Run
This will take place from the Clougha picnic site (east of
Lancaster), GR 527604, 6.45 for 7.00pm - ALL WELCOME! Something about 4 miles,
and another about 6 miles. If you wish to Cycle, please get in touch with
Martin Roome direct to see if there is enough interest.
17.05.04 Summer Series Kicks Off!
The first of the SROC Summer Series kicks off on the 19th May at Beacon Fell
visitor centre. The idea is to offer some competitive evening events, but
with a twist in order to offer some interest and encourage development.
There are three different courses that should cater for all. Read
17.05.04 Race for Life
Sarah Watkins (Club Captain) is organising a group ladies to take part in one of
the Race for Life events this summer. The selected event will be the 5km
run at Witton Park, Blackburn on Wednesday 23rd June at 7.30pm. If you are
interested in learning more about it, please get in touch with Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org.
10.05.04 Ambleside Activities Day - help required
On Sunday 30th and Monday 31st May the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole,
near Ambleside, is encouraging visitors to try out a range of activities.
Steve McLean is organising the
orienteering part and is looking for volunteers to assist in a number of ways.
If you're available for part or all of these 2 days and are willing to help show
non-orienteers round a simple course, set up a string course or man an info desk
Steve would love to hear from you.
10.05.04 Improve your orienteering
Steve McLean is the planner for
BOF's Club Training Day at Witherslack on Saturday 22/5/04. This is an
ideal opportunity for club members to try out various techniques without
the "pressures" of competition. Whatever your experience there'll
be something suitable. Places must be booked in advance through
Steve so please phone or email him asap if you're interested. (The GB
Sprint Champs is being held just down the road on the same day so there's
an opportunity to combine both)
Well done to all those who took part in last weekend's Triple
O Severn. There were some distinguished results, the highlights
being: Quentin Harding 3rd M Vets, Chris Nash 1st M10A, Martyn Roome, 1st
M50S, David Rosen, 3rd M50S and Kira Browne 2nd W10B. Congratulations to
one and all!

03.05.04 Summer League - Details
Following the very successful Summer League in 2003, SROC are running a
something similar for 2004. But not completely similar! They'll be
some challenging twists to these events making them different and even more
fun. So check out the dates on the fixtures
list and also the details of the scoring
